I can't find 4340 in the materials, what can I do?

Best Answer

First thing is to make sure it’s really not there.  Use the “More” button to the right of the Material selector.  It pops up a bunch of helpful tools.  One of them is a search.  If we search for “4340”, we see that it is there.  You can select it directly from the list.

Be sure to click the search button after typing in the material you want to search for.

If your material still can’t be found by search, the next step would be to decide whether it is a member of one of the families already listed.  If it is, you can use the same “More” box to enter a Brinell hardness and go forward that way.

If the family isn’t even listed, drop us a line.  We’ll take a look at adding the material.  We’re more likely to do so faster if you can give us a link to some information on cutting the material with endmills.
