I have a Seco R220.53 series face mill


4 inserts, 3.0 cut diameter, 1.97 cutter height max depth od cut is .236.

How do I enter this tool into the G-Wizard Calculator to face Aluminum 6061 ?

I have the trial installed mid way through the trial.

Hi John. Quickest thing is to choose “Indexable End or Face Mill” from the tool list, give it 3″ diameter, tell it you’ve got 4 “flutes”, and a stickout of say 3 inches. The latter should be tip of insert to where the shank goes into the spindle, but that’s probably close.

You’re off to the races. That’ll give conservative results. To get more aggressive, first thing I’d do is give it the Mfg’s Info on the particular inserts you’re using. There’s a section of our Product Tour that shows how to do that:
