Can Gearotic add the correct overcut to compensate for bit diameter?

I’m using another gear design package, but it isn’t cnc aware.  As such when I’m cutting gears from flat material, I have to manually edit the result to allow for the material left behind when trying to cut a square corner with a round bit.

Does Gearotic handle this better?  i.e. can I specify the diameter of the bit and have Gearotic create output that is suitable for that bit?

Thanks,

Brad

Here is Art’s response:

If I’m understanding the question properly, then yes, the Gcode from Gearotic is offset from the gears profile by the radius of the bit. It does sharp corners
on the gears as it cuts them. While it doesn’t put out G43 offset code, the code produced has that already taken into consideration.

PS:    I should mention, Gearotic will also do a 3d simulation of the cut to show the material left over after the run.  Smile
