We plan to use this information to help determine which canned posts to work on first for our G-Wizard Editor and G-Code Simulator.

Bob,
Given the low representation of Fanuc and large representation of homebuilt (mach 3 and emc2) it looks like you need to market more to the job shops and larger shops. Believe me, most job shops would greatly benefit from Gwizard feed and speed calculator. I hire operators that say they have “never seen cutting like that”. In many cases I am using similar cutting rates to what Gwizard generates.
Ken, it’s not quite as slanted to the hobby world as it looks. First, it’s pretty close to half and half on the survey. Second, the professionals are much less likely to participate. After all, they got chips to make that they get paid for. I see this a lot on surveys and have to adjust in various ways. For example, on the CAM survey, I adjusted by virtue of what the packages cost. I can also straight up look at the emails when people order. By seats (and remember, a shop typically orders more than one seat), we’re about 60% pro and 40% hobby on G-Wizard’s sold.
All that said, I’d love to sell more seats to either group, LOL.
I tell you what I’m impressed by is the number of EMC2 (they remind me it is now called LinuxCNC) users. I would’ve guessed the percentage was lower, but it seems to be about 2/3′s Mach and a full 1/3 LinuxCNC.
Thanks for your kind words.
Cheers,
BW
